WWE Raw Debut on Netflix....WHAT THE HELL ??

WWE Raw made its anticipated debut on Netflix last night and well...... let's just say it was MEH!!!
All the hype they gave for this did not meet the expectations of this fan. I know the die-hard WWE fan will say the show was marvelous, but for someone who likes wrestling, it was just there for me. Aesthetically, the Intuit Dome looks badass. The seats have built-in lights for light shows, which a few times on T.V. made the seats look empty even though fans were sitting there. Using a drone camera for shots throughout the arena was interesting and gave some good shots. Unfortunately, the show itself was a let-down. There were some things I liked about the show, as it was not as bad as previous Raws, but for their big debut, they could have given fans more.... oh wait, they gave "their fans" exactly what they wanted....less in-ring action and a shit ton of talking.
The show opens with a huge white curtain around the ring and a video is shown talking about the history of wrestling. This video was done very well, which has never been an issue with the WWE. The curtain falls and the fans are treated to seeing the CCO (Chief Content Officer) Triple H standing in the center of the ring welcoming everyone to Raw on Netflix. Next, the crowd erupts as the Rock enters, who is the head of the board of directors for TKO (if I am not mistaken). The Rock thanks people who have carried WWE for the past year, including the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes. Let's stop here..... the fans were under the impression that Cody would face Rock at this year's WrestleMania being held in Las Vegas. WWE spent all last year building up this only to drop the story for the Rock to hug Cody and act like he didn't want to kill him last year??? Am I missing something..... I am wondering if they decide to go this route how are they going to pick this story back up? Not only did they drop this storyline, but they also dropped the build it seems they could have been working towards between the Rock and his cousin Roman Reigns for WrestleMania. After Roman's match, Rock comes out and places the ula fala around Roman's neck to signify him as the "true" tribal chief. This would have been the perfect time for the Rock to hit the Rock Bottom on Roman setting a match for this year's WrestleMania... again, I will ask...if they decide to pick this story back up how??? What was even better was that backstage the Rock put out on his social media, him hugging and shaking hands with big-whigs, but he didn't shake the hand of Triple H...hmmmm. And we are informed that the Rock will show up on NXT the next day. (This is a whole other blog, if I choose to write it).
This show had only 4 matches in a 3-hour show....what the holy hell.....oh yeah, I forgot, WWE fans don't like in-ring action....MY BAD!!
They did have a title change, that being Rhea defeating the boring-ass Liv Morgan. Rhea was not supposed to lose her title in the first place but had to relinquish it after an injury. Rhea gets her title back so now the question becomes....WHAT IS NEXT???? There is really no woman on the WWE roster that is on the level of Rhea. We are expected to get a few returns, Charlotte and Becky.. but do we want to see another Rhea/Charlotte match.. me personally no. They had a great match where Rhea defeated Charlotte after Charlotte sustained a knee injury. But we do know that since Rhea defeated Liv, she probably re-signed with WWE.
Drew, Drew, Drew.... you signed on the dotted line and I do not feel bad for you... You job out to Jey Uso and they have made you look like an idiot since you re-signed. Your momentum has gone since you feuded with Punk. My guy, my guy... I hope you thought the money was worth it to have your creative suffer like this. At this point, I would not even mind seeing Drew get a mid-card title.
Seth, Seth, Seth.... just like Drew you jobbed out to a man you personally hate. I will give you credit for doing good business. But damn, my guy you are now looking like a little bitch. We need the heel Seth back and we need him back soon, otherwise, you are going to be stuck in the never-ending cycle of being a bitch to Punk. As for this match, it looked like they were both out of steam after about 5 minutes. Also, I am glad that Punk came out of this match uninjured. We all know, as Moxley says, fragile mind, fragile body....lol
There were many celebrities in attendance for the show tonight... but the WWE thought it was a grand idea to partner with Hulk Hogan and his beer. They decided to parade him out on stage, only to a ringing chorus of BOOs from the fans in attendance and probably even fans at home. I guess they thought by pairing Hogan with Jimmy Hart would ease the BOOs.....well no it did not. Too bad fans can't BOO when the in-ring action is trash too.
For all the hype they gave this show, it was very underwhelming. There were only 4 matches that went longer than normal on a RAW. They tried to be "edgy" by allowing the Rock to say BULLSHIT and the crowd popping for it thinking they are getting an "attitude era" product. What I did like was no more of the censor button and we got to actually hear the crowd say, "Fuck You, Solo." So I guess for WWE that is edgy. Anyway, welcome to the NETFLIX ERA of RAW.
