Swerve Strickland as AEW World Champion

Why is Swerve Strickland the "guy" in AEW??? 

Swerve Strickland's journey from being under-utilized in WWE to being one of the faces of AEW, his talent and work ethic will propel him to another AEW World Title in the future. 

Swerve is what wrestling fans like to say is the "complete package." He has four characteristics that make him stand out, and fans take notice of his presence. Swerve's in-ring skills are off the chart. He blends technical prowess, striking ability, and high-flying offense like it is second nature. The one match that stands out the most in his repertoire is his feud with Hangman Adam Page. This feud blended in-ring ability and psychology into one of AEW's best feuds in its history. Strickland tends to have matches that are intense, creative, and unpredictable. 

Swerve's skill on the mic is undeniable, as he is one of the best talkers in AEW. He comes across as saying what he means and means what he says. He can cut cold, menacing promos to get fans interested in any match he has. Swerve brings depth to his character by selling his motivations with layered storytelling. While he does have what fans call " a mouthpiece" in Prince Nana, who makes Swerve's character more intriguing, he does not need Prince Nana cutting promos for him. 

Fans lately like to throw around the word "AURA." The definition of 'aura' is the distinctive atmosphere or quality that seems to surround and be generated by a person, thing, or place. Fans say this about any wrestler they like, even though that person may not have any 'aura.' Swerve has that 'aura' where fans can despise him as a heel and love him as a face. He obtains organic fan support; even when he's a heel, fans still cheer for him. That is a rare feat; that only in my lifetime have I only seen two other wrestlers have--Triple H and Randy Orton.

The organic fan support that Swerve commands led him to become the first Black AEW World Champion. He is a main eventer with or without a title because he has that presence about him. Swerve Strickland is not just a 'guy' in AEW- he is 'THE GUY' in AEW. He is the future and soon-to-be two-time World Champion in AEW.
