I have missed the last Progress event due to personal reasons. Overall, this was an excellent show. For someone who despises women’s wrestling, the Rhio/Rayne/Kanji match was great. I am looking forward to Rhio versus Kanji on August 25th. The women in British wrestling often appear to be a group of catty females trying to outdo each other; however, they can fight, unlike the American women’s wrestling. The show went by quickly, and I was entertained by every match on the card today. The one downside is I did not get to see my favorite Gene Munny on the show today, but I am looking forward to seeing him next time.
Tate Mayfair v Adam Maxted
This is the first time I have seen Adam Maxted, who has the look of a great wrestler. I have been a fan of Tate for a while, but I am very impressed with Maxted. We get a lock-up and into the corner. Tate is showing off and playing up to the crowd. Tate with some nice kicks to Maxted. Maxted has a nice standing drop kick, which is almost on the level of Okada, who has the best in professional wrestling. Tate does his standing drop kick, which is not bad, but not as good as his opponent tonight. Tate’s crown jewels took a hit, which even hurt this female. So far, I have liked what I have seen from Adam Maxted. Maxted has thrown Tate into the corner twice, and both were brutal. Tate picks up the win in a brutal match. Maxted has a chair and hits Tate in the back after losing the match. I want to see more of Adam Maxted now. Tate takes the chair and goes to the back, looking for payback.
Charles Crowley v Simon Miller
This is a number one contender match. I am a fan of both, so I'm okay with whoever wins. This looks like an even match-up, but I am not sure which one is going to try to cheat to win. Crowley slaps Miller, and Miller picks him up and slams him on the mat. That slam looked painful. Miller seems to have the upper hand so far. Miller is showing that mean side that I like. Nice move by Crowley to take down Miller. So far, this has been a good back-and-forth between Miller and Crowley. Miller is a smaller version of former WWE’s Ryback. Miller with a crazy spear on Crowley, who came off the ropes. It looked wild. Bullet is in the ring and takes out both Miller and Crowley, which ends in a DQ. Bullet has the mic after taking out both Miller and Crowley. A three-way in the future??
Mike D v Axel Tischer
For the Atlas Championship and a tables match..What could happen…. CHAOS!!! I do like Tischer’s introduction; it was cool. I don't recall having seen either of these men compete before, but I am looking forward to what they bring to the ring. Tischer with a Supplex, then a hurricarada from Mike D. Mike D. is pulling out our first table. They are exchanging blows outside of the ring. We have the table set up in the corner and try to send Mike D through the table, but he avoids it as he pushes Tischer towards the table, who catches himself. I have been impressed with both men. Mike D with a lariat that sent Tischer into next week. We have two tables set up in the ring now. Tischer is lying on the tables as Mike D looks to go to the top… is he going for a shooting star? Tischer gets off the table, and Mike D takes one to the jewels as Tischer knocks the ropes. Those tables are closed who are going through them. Mike D is on the ropes, and Tischer is climbing, looking for a high-risk move. Mike D reverses with a powerbomb and sends Tischer through the table, and we have a new Atlas champion in Mike D. The Match was decent, and I want to see more of Mike D. What is next for Tischer after losing the Atlas Championship?
Charlie Sterling v Cara Noir
I like this new Charlie Sterling who is fighting bird man, Cara Noir. Maybe Cara Noir needs to team up with bird girl from WWE Lyra…lol. Noir takes off the rope and attacks Sterling, and the fight is on before the bell. We get the bell, and Sterling jumps out of the ring, and Noir goes after him and begins to get a beating. I am not a fan of Noir, but he is looking good here at the start of the match. Noir does wrestle a slow, methodical style, but for me, he is missing something that I, as an American, cannot connect with. Noir is a good wrestler; I feel like his character is missing something more. Edge would help him out—Sterling with a knee to the lower back of Noir. Sterling sends Noir outside the ring and is now going after him. Noir gets an opening as he grabs Sterling’s leg, and he goes face-first on the ring apron. Noir with a two-count after some good offense. Sterling is focusing on Noir’s ankle. Noir has the blackout sleeper, but Sterling sends him into the corner. Sterling has him up, and he gets the win. Good job, Sterling. This seems like an upset, but I am not mad at it. I am wondering if Noir is not injured. I hope not.
Session Moth Martina v Lana Austin
Lana, on the mic, says she pulled a muscle, and the crowd is chanting bullshit. Lallie can take her place in this match. Lana says if Lallie wins, she will become her best friend. Martina comes in with a clothesline on Holly. Martina stomped a mudhole in Lallie in the corner. Lallie was fighting back now, but it was short-lived as Martina showed a more vicious side. Martina wins
Face Off
Luke Jacobs comes to the ring for the face-off. Jacob's listing off all those he has beaten. Says he has beaten A Man Like Dereiss twice and Dereiss' music hits. Dereiss says he is going to cash in his chance at the world title on August 25th. I will be tuning in for this match. Jacobs said it will be a TLC match.. the stakes are getting better. Dereiss gets attacked from behind by Ethan Allan, and he and Jacobs attack Dereiss, making sure he will not make it to August 25th.
Rhio v Kanji v Rayne Leverkusen – Women’s Championship
Seems like the crowd is behind Rayne. Rhio is the champion and does not have to be pinned to lose her title. Seems like the odds are stacked against Rhio. Looks like Rhio is getting the worst end of this match at the moment. If I were Rhio, I would let Kanji and Rayne take each other down and then sneak in for the clean-up. They have gone for early pinfalls in the match. The back-and-forth pins are not my cup of tea, and I think they are lazy. Rhio is now in charge, taking down both Kanji and Rayne. I am rooting for Kanji after a few moments of watching her in the ring. Kanji reminds me of Indi Hartwell both in looks and in-ring movements. Kanji has made this a one-on-one for now after taking out Rayne. As someone who is not a fan of women’s wrestling, this match has been both entertaining and holding my attention. Rayne with a nice cutter on Kanji and only gets a two count as Kanji kicks out. Kanji is back on the arm of Rayne, but Rhio breaks it up so Rayne cannot tap out. Rhio looks pissed now and is taking care of business, with a 2 count on Kanji as Kanji kicks out. Rayne has the lion tamer locked in on Rhio, but Kanji breaks it up. The crowd is getting into this match. Rayne has the lion tamer locked in again on Kanji. Kanji was going to tap, and Rhio stopped it. Rhio then takes out Rayne, but Kanji comes in and pins both of them. What is going on?? The Referee has declared this match a draw, as both Kanji and Rhio were on top of Rayne for the pin. The crowd wants them to restart the match, but Rhio retains as the crowd chants This is bullshit. So we are going to Rhio versus Kanji on August 25th. Sign me up for that match. Kanji and Rhio are going at it as the refs try to break it up. Rhio gets the mic and says that if it wasn’t for her, Kanji would not be in this match. Rhio asked if her shoulders were really on the mat. The crowd chanted Yes, they are. Yes!!!! They will go at it on August 25th one on one…lol.
