Initial Thoughts: The crowd was electric, and although the ring announcer's microphone went out, he remained unfazed and continued his announcements. Eventually, we had a working mic. This was my first time watching North Wrestling, and I enjoyed the show. I'm excited to write about them in the future. I discovered some new wrestlers who caught my attention, and I can't wait to see them back in the ring soon. Some wrestlers got my attention, and I cannot wait to see them back in a ring soon.
The show starts with Leon Slater (North Wrestling Champion) coming out and getting the mic, and as he goes to speak, the crowd begins to heckle him. He says there is no one left for your boy. Music hits and we Gene Munny… WTF. I loved the entrance music for Munney. Crowd is a huge fan of Gene Munny. Slater begins laughing as Munny comes into the ring and asks Dog Boy what he wants. This is an excellent promo from Munny on why he should be the one to challenge Slater. Slater tells him to shut the fuck up and say you want Munny v Slater, let’s make it official and Munny vs Liam Slater, crowd chants penis? If Munny pins Liam he wants his rematch. Slater says if he beats Liam, then he can have his rematch anytime he wants.
Kid Lykos II comes out and stakes a claim to Slater's North Wrestling title. Could we potentially see a 3-way match for Slater's title? Kid Lykos II said he has beaten Slater 3 times in North Wrestling. Then we get Man Like Dereiss coming out rapping like a beast. I loved Deriess’s presentation. Lykos II says he says two of you on the floor and two of us in the ring… he tells them they could step in the ring. Deriess says he doesn’t trust the Slaters or Lykos II as the Slaters begin to make their way to the back. Great way to start the show.
Lykos II v. Man Like Deriess in a Super Fight
We are getting a ref and we have ourselves a match. They lock up as they each run the ropes. Lykos II goes flying to take down Deriess. Lykos II gets a 2 count. Deriess with a nice Supplex and getting some offense who gets a 2 count. Lykos II with a nice drop kick on Deriess. Lykos II hits a nice DDT. Lykos II with some shots to Deriess midsection. Deriess with the 450 and gets the win. Deriess grabs Lykos II and pulls him back into the ring and Deriess offering a handshake. They shake hands. The match was a great opening match with some great high-flying spots. The one nitpick is that there could have been too many false finishes.
Jet Martial v. Joe Wade
As my friend Matthew (on twitter/X @GrapsTV) mentioned during his watch-along, Wade looks like a younger CM Punk. I can see that. Wade has the height over Martial. Martial sends Wade to the outside, but Wade comes back in the ring, and Martial goes into offensive mode and takes it to Wade. Wade then takes down Martial, then some chops and stomps to Martial to keep him down. Martial, with a nice kick to the head of Wade, who goes into the corner. Now we have Martial with some offense on Wade. Martial with a knee to Wade’s head for a 2 count. Jet Martial gets the win. Quick match, but I have become a fan of both these wrestlers as they showed off in a short time.
Henry Faust/Kegstacker v. Shreddy/CO Knox
Faust is giving me Sheamus vibes. What a great name, Kegstacker, who is wrestling at a brewery. Shreddy said he has been to Japan. Did he get a partner from Japan??? Faust/Kegstacker gets blindsided by Shreddy’s partner. The crowd throws in toilet paper. The security Shreddy brought out takes out Kegstacker, who took a shot to his injured arm from Knox, and we get Benji as Faust's new partner. Benji comes out with some offense, but Shreddy slams him down. Knox comes in after a tag, taking care of Benji who is isolated in the wrong corner. Benji is trying to fight back, but he is very under-matched. Shreddy gets a 2 count on Benji. Shreddy takes a cheap shot at Faust. Benji desperately needs to make a tag after taking this beating. Knox goes for an elbow drop, but Benji rolls out of the way, and tries to make his way to his corner, but Shreddy catches him before the tag. Benji makes the tag after Shreddy misses in the corner. Faust finally in the ring and takes down Knox gets a 2 count. Faust/Benji double double-teaming Shreddy. Shreddy, with a jackhammer on Faust, gets the pin and wins the match. The match was pretty good. I am impressed with all four competitors in this match and cannot wait to check out more of their matches.
Ultra Violet Championship Match- Match Lou Nixon v. Ace Matthews
Ace’s entrance song is Mr. Sandman, which makes me want to listen to some 40s music. Ace’s version of the Sandman’s entrance in ECW. This is a hardcore match; it will be interesting to see how they do a hardcore match. Nixon with some hard chops to start the match. Nice heel kick by Nixon for a 2 count. Nixon sets up a chair in the corner of the ring, but Matthews stops him. Matthews with the blow-up hammer had thumb tacks on it. Matthew's tailbone hits the corner of the mat; that has to hurt. They are outside the ring, and the fans are helping Nixon. Nixon into the ring post could change things in Matthews' favor. Matthews pours out tacks into the ring.. Nixon going into the tacks???? NO, he sends Matthews over the top rope instead. Matthews into the tacks. Nixon, with a slam on Matthews into the tacks. Matthews tries to fight back, but again, he is sent into the tacks. Matthews with a low blow on Nixon. Knox is back and gives Matthews a bat with barbwire and Benji strikes the champion as Benji chases Knox. Both Nixon and Matthews go for the bat and Nixon wins it. Nixon kicks out of a 1 count. Nixon with a GTS on Matthews and grabs a painting and hits him over the head and goes for the sleeper.. Matthews has passed out from the sleeper hold. We have a new champion, Lou Nixon. The match was decent for a hardcore match, nothing like we would have seen in a GCW match or AEW but not bad. I am going to check out some more of Lou Nixon's matches.
Emersyn Jayne/Rhio v. Lucia Lee/Visage
Rhio got a huge pop from the crowd. So it Visage is the tag partner of Lucia Lee, who has not been in North Wrestling for 2 years. Lucia Lee and Emersyn Jayne started. Lucia with a side headlock. Emersyn, with a quick pin for a 2 count. Visage is in the ring now, and Emersyn has a wardrobe malfunction to which the ref is helping her with. Rhio is tagged in, and both go for shoulder hits. Crossbody by Rhio for a one count. Visage sends Rhio into the corner, but Emersyn makes the tag, and they double-team Visage into a slam. Another wardrobe issue for Emersyn. Nice take down by Jayne on Visage. Jayne is isolated in the wrong corner and is now taking a beating from Lucia and Visage. Rhio with the hot tag, comes in and takes it from Lucia Lee. Nice twisting neck breaker to Visage by Rhio. Rhio, with a package pile driver, gets the pin on Lucia Lee for the win. Not a bad match. I did not think this was one of Rhio's best matches, and I have seen several. She seemed off in this match, and I am not sure why.
Liam Slater v Gene Munny
Liam is going straight for Munny and focusing on that right arm. Munny hits a lariat to take Liam down. Liam has his shirt pulled over his face and cannot see. Munny with the raspberry on Liam’s stomach. Munny with a 2 count. Liam gets some offense and gets Munny down. Liam with elbow to Munny into a Supplex for a 2 count. Liam is back on that right arm of Munny. Munny is slamming Liam on the mat. Spine buster from Munny for a 2 count. Liam with a low blow for a 2 count and then into the crab as Munny tries to make it to the ropes. Liam goes back to the arm with an arm bar. Munny gets the pin after hitting Liam with the lariat. He now gets his rematch against Leon Slater and the North Wrestling title. I enjoyed this match, and I am slowly becoming a fan of Gene Munny and his gimmick.
Leon from behind, attacks Munny as he is celebrating his win. Amir Jordan comes out and attacks Leon Slater, taking him out with a clothesline over the top rope. Amir asked for a mic….Leon is leaving as Amir is cutting a promo and calling his shot for Slater’s title. Amir wants to fight him now…Leon is making his way back to the ring, and we have a referee.
Leon Slater v Amir Jordan – North Wrestling Title
Leon tries to sneak attack Amir but misses, and the bell rings, and we have a title match. Leon kicks the back of the knee of Amir and takes him down. Leon focuses on that knee of Amir to keep him down. Leon sends Amir into the corner hard. Amir is fighting back. Slater has Amir hanging upside down in the corner and attacking that knee again. Jaw breaker by Amir to break the hold. Small package from Amir for a 2 count. Slater head butts the turnbuckle. Nice neck breaker from Amir. Can Amir overcome that knee to get a pin? They are fighting on the apron as Amir is holding himself up with the ropes. Slater is trying to German Supplex Amir onto the chairs in the audience. Amir with a code breaker, only for a 2 count again. Slater looks out of it, but he fights back. Slater taunting the fans, gives Amir a moment. Slater again attacked the knee, and Amir with a victory roll for a 2 count. Amir has him up in a fireman’s carry but can only get another 2 count. Amir is trying to climb the ropes, but Slater is up and stops him. Slater is looking for a super Supplex, but Amir stops it. Amir with a destroyer from the ropes is this Amirs chance. Amir has Slater up and hits the move, but Slater has his foot on the rope.. WOW. Amir was not aware of where they were in the ring. Slater is looking for the 450, but Amir gets his knees up. But did he damage the already injured knee? Amir goes to the top looking for Air Jordan, but Slater moves and then slams Amir onto the mat and gets a 2 count. Slater with a single-leg crab on that injured knee… Amir is trying to make it the rope, but Slater grabs the arm, and Amir taps out. Leon retains his title. Excellent match between these two. This was probably the match of the night.
North Wrestling Tag Team Championship – Myles Kayman/Kemper v. Will Kross/Rampage (C)
Kayman pushes Kroos and then gets behind Kemper. Kayman and Rampage are starting this match. Kayman spends too much time outside of the ring, get in there and take your ass kicking. Rampage throws Kayman across the ring. Nice powerslam by Rampage. Now Kroos is in and lays in a chop on Kayman as the crowd chants one more time, Kroos gives him another one. Kayman tags in Kemper, who is 7 ft. Kroos and Kemper exchange shoulder blows and barely move each other. Kayman is taking an ass kicking, which I am here for. Rampage and Kemper exchange trying to pick each other up. Kemper has Rampage down We get a double team, sort of, Kemper with a slam on Rampage and Kayman with some shots. Kayman is trying to get Rampage up but cannot. Both need to make a tag, but Kayman stops Rampage from tagging Kroos. Rampage with the tag, and Kross takes it to Kayman. Kemper gets the tags and takes both Kroos and Rampage. Kemper with a body slam to Kroos. Kemper throws Kroos into a cutter by Kayman only gets a 2 count. Kroos with a head butt then into a power bomb only gets a 2 count. Kemper with a choke slam on Kroos, and Kayman tags himself in. Kayman goes for the golden driver, cannot get him up, and Kroos sends Kayman into a back slam. Kemper is on the second rope, super plex on Kroos, and Kayman only gets a 2 count. Kayman takes out the ref, and then he looks under the ring for something, but there are no weapons under the ring. Kayman with a chair, Kemper goes to hold Kroos as Kayman goes to hit him with chair and Kroos turns around and Kayman hits Kemper. Kroos thru the ropes on Kemper. Rampage has Kayman on the shoulders, dooms day device. Kroos and Rampage retain their tag titles. Good match. I was impressed with Kroos in the ring. Became a fan of Kemper and Rampage tonight after watching them for the first time. Not a bad match that had three big men in it. Kayman begins fussing at Kemper. Is Kemper going to get his hands on Kayman??? Kemper behind Kayman, Kemper with a choke slam on Kayman…YES!!!! Can we get another one?? I am interested in a one-on-one between Kemper and Kayman.
Overall, this was a good show that kept my attention throughout. All the competitors looked good, and I did not see many mistakes. I cannot wait until the next event for North Wrestling next month.
