NOTE: According to 'some' men----Women are not supposed to have opinions on Professional Wrestling.
Although I am not a fan of women's wrestling, I always pay attention when these two ladies are on my screen. Described as a 'gift' to women's wrestling, Chelsea Green(WWE) and Toni Storm(AEW) embody charisma, versatility, and in-ring talent that elevate their promotions' women's division.
Chelsea Green can take characters and make them over-the-top, and she fully commits. Green demonstrates range and creativity, whether it is from her "Hot Mess" gimmick in TNA, her "Karen" gimmick in WWE she return to her current gimmick as a political figure after winning the Women's United States Championship. She can add variety to women's wrestling by fully leaning into the comedic and theatrical roles. Not only does Green embrace a range of characters, but her work ethic and resilience are also something that is gifts. After multiple setbacks from injuries and being released by WWE, she has bounced back each time, reinventing herself to a higher level of character development. Green also uses her social media to gain followers with her self-aware humor, where she does not take herself too seriously while still giving fans strong character performances.
Toni Storm has been the best woman in AEW since arriving. Storm, a former NXT UK Women's Champion, was less than stellar when making her way to the main roster of WWE. If you watch a Storm match, you can see she combines a strong technical wrestling style with her brawling ability. This creates great matches with various opponent styles. Whether she is Rocker or Timeless, Storm brings authenticity to any role she plays. She does not just play a character, she becomes that character. Storm's current gimmick of a dramatic, silent film star has captivated audiences and is one of the most original and stylized gimmicks in wrestling currently.
Green and Storm prove that women's wrestling can be interesting and not the normal boring segment that it used to be. While there is space for characters, comedy, grit, and glamour both of these women show that women in wrestling is not monolith. These ladies remind fans that personality is just as powerful as being athletic. Green and Storm show that the women's division can be both entertaining and technically sound.
